Kerry Darlington is a Welsh artist, born 1974 in Rhyl, North Wales. She was heavily inspired by magical fairy tale picture books and stories during her childhood, and had a particular love for Arthur Rackham's intricate pen and ink work. This influenced her to take a degree in Illustration, with intentions of becoming a children's book Illustrator. Following this she discovered ‘Art Nouveau’ and the Pre-Raphaelite artists’. She found this work so hauntingly beautiful that it absorbed her and it still has a profound effect on her own art.

On her original pieces, Kerry works with texture, acrylics and resin. She works in layers to build up depth and create more light. She uses resin as a medium rather than a varnish on the original paintings.

With her ‘Unique Editions’, whilst in essence they are prints, each one is some way unique. She creates small 3D additions which are hand-worked individually and adhered to the print. The background is also hand embellished, and all the work has resin hand-applied, making each print look like an original painting.

Born in Bristol in 1972, Doug became aware of his artistic talent at an early age.

Throughout his school and college education he concentrated on the technical side of drawing and painting, but after graduation he was in no doubt as to his chosen career, that of a professional artist.

Doug prefers to produce his distinctive artwork on a large scale, in order to achieve maximum impact with each piece. He also enjoys operating in plenty of space, thus allowing himself enough physical freedom to express the creative energy that is the key to his fresh, contemporary style.

His unorthodox use of pastels applied with fingers and thumbs or even the side of a hand or wrist allows him to create highly communicative and engaging images that make an immediate and lasting impression on the viewer.Inspired by his own emotional responses to life, Doug's intention is to provoke an emotional response in others; his success in this aim can be seen by the huge impact his newly released collection has made on the British art scene.

As one of the UKs most innovative and uplifting young artists, we look forward to his inevitable rise with great excitement!"I hope people can feel a connection with my work, and share the positive emotions behind it.

One of the keys to Doug's enduring success is that his appeal reaches such a wide audience. From culture loving aesthetes who spend their holidays browsing round the Louvre or the Uffizi to those who find the very thought of entering a gallery intimidating, his work crosses the whole spectrum and transcends cultural boundaries.
This rare quality of universality is perhaps due to the fact that Doug's compositions communicate with us so directly, referring to the human experience as a whole in a way that we can all recognise. Take "Monday, Wednesday, Friday" for instance. Who hasn't felt a little down in the mouth when the alarm goes off on a Monday morning, and who doesn't feel their heart lighten as Friday draws to a close? Doug's enchanting triptych brings the week to life for us in a way that everyone can relate to. Whether we are being presented with ideas about love, laughter, friendship, adventure or generosity, Doug's work always finds a way to reach out and touch us personally.

Born in 1966 in Norfolk, Ian Rawling graduated with a degree in design from Sheffield Art College. Ian Rawling started out working as an illustrator and designer and was very sucessful although he decided that he wanted more out of his artwork than simply to make a living. He went on to work full time for himself and made an immediate impact on the art world by producing some very stylised and bold imagery. Ian Rawling finds his inspiration through people watching and the situations we all regularly encounter. He uses techniques such as exaggeration and repetition, working mainly in pastels to bring his characters to life. The Monty Python humour, the cartoon genius Gary Larson and Norman Rockwell the 1950's artist have been immensely influential in Ian Rawlings' work.

Born in 1974 on a coastal town of North Wales, Kerry Darlington's talent was fuelled by beautiful old picture books (Rackham, Dulac and Beardsley were favourites) which developed into gaining a degree in illustration in 1996. Following university she left the UK to work in Bolivia, South America, an adventure which intensified the vibrancy and creativity of her work.
On her return to Wales she worked as a designer for an exclusive company specialising in sculptured clay murals for private residences in the Middle East, United Arab Emirates and the U.S.A.
Kerry now works independently, from her studio at home in North Wales, using all of these influences and her artistic flexibility to create pieces of art on a wide variety of subjects.
Kerry worked for years in pen and ink perfecting her drawing skills before diversifying into watercolours and later, a variety of mediums, acrylic and oil. Following her experience with the clay murals, she became interested in painting upon heavy textures and experimented widely to produce original effects.
Her acrylic paintings are uniquely formed upon board or canvas first, using texture and gessos. The colour is then built upon with several transparent layers to create depth. Her abstract pieces were initially based upon satellite photographs of Earth which created the 'Volcanic' collection in 2005/2006. This has since diversified to include contemporary landscapes and figure work, all carrying her unique style.
Kerry's work has become increasingly sought after by collectors, and in 2007 she was a finalist in the 'Best Up-and-Coming Published Artist' category in the Fine Art trade Guild Awards, as voted by sales in UK Galleries.
Her work continues to evolve, and she is currently experimenting with figurative oil paintings, using her contemporary style alongside the realistic painting.

On her original pieces, Kerry works with texture, acrylics and resin. She works in layers to build up depth and create more light. She uses resin as a medium rather than a varnish on the original paintings.

“The Faraway Tree books had an incredible influence during childhood on my imagination and work. I have painted the tree with all the characters that live inside it, and the Land Of Goodies visiting the top; full of bustling creatures, colour, fun and magic. It was a dream to illustrate, painted with kind permission of the Enid Blyton estate.”

Kerry Darlington's art is just magical, wonderful and fantastical.  If you are passionate about children’s fairy tales, love your alternative landscapes or are obsessed by fictional characters such as ‘Ophelia’, then Kerry’s paintings you must consume.  Winning the ‘Best-selling Published Artist Award 2012′, Kerry has built up quite a portfolio of pieces.  Ranging from original paintings of 80″ x 60″ to smaller ‘study’ pieces measuring 14″ x 14″, there is a collection to suit most tastes.
Inspired by Arthur Rackman’s illustrations, Kerry began with illustrations of stories, fairies and poetry and soon moved on to creating pieces inspired by her love of art in the 19th and early 20th century.  Using modern art techniques, such as overlaying her work with resin, thus making her style so unique and refreshing.
Choosing fictional and popular childhood characters such as Ophelia, Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland and Enid’s Blyton’s ‘The Magic Faraway Tree”, Kerry puts her unique stamp on them all.
