Image size - 28" x 40"
Framed size - 35" x 51"

"This is a spectacular country in one of the driest parts of Australia where the rocks seem to have a blue surface staining to them - they look incredible. The country is so sparse and barren that it can't be farmed and the only trees that will grow are these - affectionately known as parachute trees. They have lots of tiny branches supporting a leafy canopy - hence the name."

I illustrated the side of a grand piano for DeMontfort Fine Art, with a long complex scene partly made up from my head, partly inspired by photos of country scenes from Northern New South Wales. These photographs showed a very green landscape, but I had in mind a parches, dry scene mainly composed of reds and oranges. When I had finished it, I really loved it so much that I immediately coated a long canvas with orange paint so I could have the pleasure again of painting a similar scene, but in a more right-angled oblong shape. As I eventually got around to working on it, the excitement of painting the scene on the piano was long months away, but as soon as I started, the thrill was there again. I hadn't realised that the piano was much longer than my canvas, and so couldn't duplicate the piano work of art. It was of necessity, shorter, but I think, exactly as much fun to paint. I don't think it would have worked as well had I made all the paddocks green instead of orangey-red.

Rolf Harris was born in Perth, Western Australia, Harris was a champion swimmer before studying art. He moved to England in 1952, where he started to appear on television programmes on which he drew the characters. Rolf Harris also began a musical career initially with the piano accordian. He wrote some famous songs, and when performing in Canada he introduced his popular routine Jake the Peg. He often uses unusual instruments in his performances: he plays the digdgeridoo, has been credited with the invention of the wobble board, a rhythmic percussion instrument, and was associated with the Stylophone, a small electronic keyboard instrument.

Acknowledged as a genuine modern master and hailed as the country’s best–loved artist, Rolf Harris has been awarded the CBE and has won many accolades both for his artwork and for his contribution to the entertainment industry.

Rolf Harris's versatile talents have won him immense popularity on gallery walls and even on stage at the world-famous Glastonbury Festival.

Always a huge favourite on television, his BBC1 series Rolf on Art gained the highest ever viewing figures for a programme on the visual arts, topping all previous programmes by over six million viewers.

In 1992 Rolf Harris was named the world’s most famous artist in a massive poll conducted by the London artMart and last year his enduring popularity was underlined by a survey - What the British Really Thinks About Art Today - published in the Daily Telegraph, in which he featured ahead of Damian Hirst.

Ben Payne has built a reputation for creating artwork which is fresh, escapist and above all, uplifting. Born in Surrey in 1975, he began drawing portraits and painting as a hobby; by the age of 16 he was selling his work, and he has now developed into a major British talent. Although he is almost completely self-taught Ben is able to respond to challenges and create artwork that is both technically accomplished and highly accessible.
Ben’s degree from Southampton University is a world apart from his artistic life, yet the influence of his academic and professional background can be observed in his art. After graduating in Psychology he became an independent therapist and pursued a career in the field of Autism, working with young children, helping them to overcome their difficulties in communicating with the outside world. Whilst pursuing this career he continued painting in his spare time, teaching himself and extending his range into oils.
Ben’s high-impact land, sky and seascapes are inspired by the landscapes and coastlines around the world. He owes an artistic debt to a range of artists, in particular Turner and Whistler. Their influence can be seen in the way he captures the appearance of clouds with such delicacy, while employing a vivid and dramatic palette – a characteristic which lends his work an ethereal quality.
Ben believes that working with children has taught him to value simplicity and to communicate in a very direct and accessible language. His powerful paintings do display a certain innocence which somehow sets them part from the work of his contemporaries. While his subjects are realistic they often have dreamlike overtones, rendering them an intriguing combination of enchantment and sophistication.

Henderson Cisz - City Visions II (Paris) Framed Limited Edition

Henderson Cisz - City Visions II (Paris)

Limited Edition Framed Canvas on Board.
Hand Embellished. Edition No. 8/195

£250.00

Image Size: 12" x 12"
Framed Size: 20" x 20"

This limited edition framed box canvas by Henderson Cisz comes professionally framed with a 3" thick, black chunky frame to compliment the picture and includes the publishers Certificate of Authenticity. The picture will be shipped using a secure signed for next day courier service.

Born in Brazil in 1960, Henderson Cisz grew up in a small village near Maringa. His talent for painting was clear from as early age, but he never considered pursuing a career as an artist. Instead he entered the banking profession and continued to enjoy painting as a hobby.

By the mid 1980s however, Henderson Cisz had become convinced that art meant more to him than banking! In 1986 he moved to London in order to study painting, and to make his passion his profession. He has never looked back and now paints full time in his London studio.

A seasoned traveller, Henderson Cisz has spent time in Europe, Australia and of course his native South America. While he loves the ocean and has always found it a source of inspiration and joy, he is also a true city-dweller, and many of his most inspirational works feature scenes from the world’s most beautiful cities.

Painting in acrylic, oil or watercolour on canvas, Henderson’s trademark palette utilises cool, soft tones to convey the atmosphere of his subject. His works are regularly displayed in London galleries and at international art fairs.

Henderson Cisz - Limited Edition City Living Book Gift Set

Henderson Cisz - City Living Book Gift Set
Limited Edition Book Gift Set of 595
£305.00

Includes 4 mounted limited edition colour prints of London, New York, Paris and Venice
Image Size - 8" X 8" (20cm X 20cm)
and a certificate of authentication.

London-based Brazilian Henderson Cisz is a globally renowned artist, acclaimed for his paintings of the modern cityscape. He has a distinctive talent for recreating the spirit of whichever location he paints. Included in his inspirational works are scenes of popular tourist spots in London, Paris, Venice and New York.
Henderson Cisz was born in 1960 in Brazil and during his growing years, he lived in a small village called Mandaguacu which is in close proximity to Maringa. Though it was clear from a young age that Henderson had a gift for painting, the artist at that time didn't think of making it his vocation. He instead pursued a career in banking bank whilst continuing to paint for pleasure.
Midway through the 1980s, Henderson was convinced of his preference and passion for art. His relocation to London in 1986 to learn painting was probably the start of a full-time dedication to painting. Henderson is a seasoned traveller and loves globetrotting and urban life. He has travelled to Europe, South America, and Australia. His nomadic past has influenced not just his lifestyle but also his artwork. Henderson enjoys painting the variety and drama of urban life. In fact, he is recognised as the international artist of urban style.
Henderson paints in oil, watercolour or acrylic on canvas, aided by numerous photographs he has captured of each location. His powerful, stylish interpretations capture the unique personality, vitality and pace of each place. Henderson's painting style is uninhibited, and uses soft, cool tones to put across the right atmosphere. The impact of weather on the look of the urban environment is something which Henderson loves and brings out in his works. Henderson says these words about rain, the effect of which he really likes: "Not only does it cast interesting shadows and reflections on the slick sidewalks, but it also dictates the stance of the figures. Their slightly defensive postures and hunched shoulders lend a very specific, and to my mind curiously engaging, mood to the overall scene." Henderson considers the ocean to be a spring of happiness and inspiration.
"Paris en Nuit," "Whitehall, London," "New York, New York," "Yellow Cab," and "San Francisco Dawn," and "Street Scene, Paris" are some of the works in his 'Urban Style' collection.
When not travelling, Henderson Cisz passes most of his time working in his chaotic London studio, the wall of which bears disorderly spatters of paint. He has been fortunate to get such titles as Best Up and Coming Artist, Artist of the Year, and Best-selling Artist. In the Art Business Today Best-Selling Images Poll 2007 sponsored by EPSON, he garnered the top position. His paintings are a regular sight at both London galleries and global art fairs.

Doug prefers to produce his distinctive artwork on a large scale, in order to achieve maximum impact with each piece. He also enjoys operating in plenty of space, thus allowing himself enough physical freedom to express the creative energy that is the key to his fresh, contemporary style. His unorthodox use of pastels applied with fingers and thumbs or even the side of a hand or wrist allows him to create highly communicative and engaging images that make an immediate and lasting impression on the viewer.
