This is in Harvey in Western Australia. The sun had set behind me, leaving everything in deep shade. But the sunlight was still hitting the bank of the trees high up in the distance, lighting up to such a brilliant orange that they look for all the world like a far-off bush fire. I did all the foreground, sketched in the bright orange background and then began to put in the mass of branches at the top. Then I started to think about what my old teacher and mentor Hayward Veal told me. He'd suggested that instead of trying to paint trees and branches on top of the sky colour, you paint everything dark, then put the sky and the spaces in between to reveal the trees and branches. I followed his advice and it worked.

Rolf Harris was born in Perth, Western Australia, Harris was a champion swimmer before studying art. He moved to England in 1952, where he started to appear on television programmes on which he drew the characters. Rolf Harris also began a musical career initially with the piano accordian. He wrote some famous songs, and when performing in Canada he introduced his popular routine Jake the Peg. He often uses unusual instruments in his performances: he plays the digdgeridoo, has been credited with the invention of the wobble board, a rhythmic percussion instrument, and was associated with the Stylophone, a small electronic keyboard instrument.

Acknowledged as a genuine modern master and hailed as the country’s best–loved artist, Rolf Harris has been awarded the CBE and has won many accolades both for his artwork and for his contribution to the entertainment industry.

Rolf Harris's versatile talents have won him immense popularity on gallery walls and even on stage at the world-famous Glastonbury Festival.

Always a huge favourite on television, his BBC1 series Rolf on Art gained the highest ever viewing figures for a programme on the visual arts, topping all previous programmes by over six million viewers.

In 1992 Rolf Harris was named the world’s most famous artist in a massive poll conducted by the London artMart and last year his enduring popularity was underlined by a survey - What the British Really Thinks About Art Today - published in the Daily Telegraph, in which he featured ahead of Damian Hirst.

Rolf Harris - Road To Paradise

ROLF HARRIS

Limited Edition Canvas on Board. Edition No. 135/195

£1225.00

Image Size: 19" x 49"

I illustrated the side of a grand piano for DeMontfort Fine Art, with a long complex scene partly made up from my head, partly inspired by photos of country scenes from Northern New South Wales. These photographs showed a very green landscape, but I had in mind a parches, dry scene mainly composed of reds and oranges. When I had finished it, I really loved it so much that I immediately coated a long canvas with orange paint so I could have the pleasure again of painting a similar scene, but in a more right-angled oblong shape. As I eventually got around to working on it, the excitement of painting the scene on the piano was long months away, but as soon as I started, the thrill was there again. I hadn't realised that the piano was much longer than my canvas, and so couldn't duplicate the piano work of art. It was of necessity, shorter, but I think, exactly as much fun to paint. I don't think it would have worked as well had I made all the paddocks green instead of orangey-red.

Trevor Neal

Born in 1947 York, self taught. Work in Public and Private collections in UK, USA, France, Germany and Israel. Commissioned work in USA, UK Italy and Germany

The work of Trevor Neal can be loosely divided into four groups

Personal Work - Often drawing on the antique, showing architecture, ancient interiors, exotic furniture and cars, that at times can appear contradictory.
Unusual buildings that may be built in highly improbable locations are current preoccupation.

The Naked Human Form - In an ever widening variety of media and substrate combinations.

Many of the treatments on the substrates imply an ageing that is contradictory to the well toned bodies of the contemporary sitters.

Commissioned Work - Whilst most of my collaborations have been in the field of interpretive portraiture. I have often been asked to put my imagination to work on such diverse subjects as family groups, cars, boats, album sleeves for rock bands to brass bands, bathrooms, interiors and exteriors.

Landscapes - Throughout history, travel has always inspired painters, I am no exception. Early morning light is for me the most interesting, whether at home or abroad, I seem to be more receptive to the unfamiliar.

Henderson Cisz - City Visions II (Paris)

Henderson Cisz - City Visions II (Paris)

Limited Edition Framed Canvas on Board. Hand Embellished. Edition No. 8/195

£250

Image Size: 12" x 12"
Framed Size: 20" x 20"

This limited edition framed box canvas by Henderson Cisz comes professionally framed with a 3" thick, black chunky frame to compliment the picture and includes the publishers Certificate of Authenticity. The picture will be shipped using a secure signed for next day courier service.

Born in Brazil in 1960, Henderson Cisz grew up in a small village near Maringa. His talent for painting was clear from as early age, but he never considered pursuing a career as an artist. Instead he entered the banking profession and continued to enjoy painting as a hobby.

By the mid 1980s however, Henderson Cisz had become convinced that art meant more to him than banking! In 1986 he moved to London in order to study painting, and to make his passion his profession. He has never looked back and now paints full time in his London studio.

A seasoned traveller, Henderson Cisz has spent time in Europe, Australia and of course his native South America. While he loves the ocean and has always found it a source of inspiration and joy, he is also a true city-dweller, and many of his most inspirational works feature scenes from the world’s most beautiful cities.

Painting in acrylic, oil or watercolour on canvas, Henderson’s trademark palette utilises cool, soft tones to convey the atmosphere of his subject. His works are regularly displayed in London galleries and at international art fairs.

Anna Razumovskaya - Daydreamer

Anna Razumovskaya - Daydreamer

Limited Edition Embellished Canvas on Board. Edition No. 12/195

£695

Image Size: 24" x 24"
Framed Size: 32" x 32"
This limited edition canvas on board by Anna Razumovskaya comes in a publishers frame and mount and includes the publishers Certificate of Authenticity. The picture will be shipped using a secure signed for next day courier service.

With her classic figurative forms, highly acclaimed Russian artist, Anna Razumovskaya magically captures the lyrical romanticism of renaissance portraiture, while creating art that is completely modern and original. Anna Razumovskaya is inspired by the graceful elegance of the female form, at turns, classically alluring, demure and provocative. Her art has a pervasive sense of ‘romanticism’, and the passionate and dynamic application of paint on the canvas and the artist’s signature use of expressive colour, combine to create her uniquely recognisable style.

Anna Razumovskaya is a graduate of the Russian State University For Arts, where she was awarded the distinction of high-class artist in 1991. Subsequently, she studied art in Germany, Belgium and Holland. With solo exhibitions in New York, Paris, Toronto, Amsterdam, Antwerp and Berlin and numerous works in private collections across the globe, she has become one of the most exciting and collectable artists on the contemporary scene.Born at the height of the cold war, Anna was exposed to very different worlds, that of the austere communist regime alongside the sophistication and femininity of her fashion-conscious mother. She excelled at art school, and enjoyed the freedom of learning and perfecting her technique in a variety of different media. Of particular interest to her were the portrait masters of the late 19th Century, John Singer Sargent, the Russian painter Valentin Serov, and earlier masters such as Peter Paul Rubens and Rembrandt. She travelled around Europe absorbing the influences of artists past and present, and finally settled in Canada which she now feels to be her true home.“Quickly, easily, brightly: this is the way I draw, the same way I live. My art is a reflection of my life, a reflection of myself…” Anna Razumovskaya

Terry Bradley

Terry Bradley was born in Belfast in 1965. His early life was spent growing up just off the notorious Shankill Road where his mother tried to keep him inside and away from the “Troubles” outside their front door. Bradley found a form of escapism reading Herge’s Adventures of Tin Tin and his work is still influenced by the black lines of the vivid drawings that illustrated the collection of books that he gradually acquired. He also spent hours in the attic room of his house listening to the then new pirate radio station Radio Luxembourg and imagined his travels and the exotic world beyond the realities of Belfast in the 1970’s. From an early age Bradley discovered that drawing calmed his nerves and that he could loose himself in the complexities of observing people and then recreating them on paper.

After a move out of the city in the late 70’s Bradley entered a large comprehensive secondary school and was instantly the outsider. Art and English were his best subjects and the rest of the time was spent staying out of trouble. Art was never mentioned as a possible career, and the most obvious next move was to one of the large factories on Belfast’s outskirts

Bradley however knew that this was not for him and with absolutely no experience or history between them Terry and his two brothers set up and ran a factory of their own.

They manufactured and exported full lead mouth blown crystal and set out to compete with the leading crystal manufacturers. With orders coming thick and fast the young Bradley’s were doing extremely well until a combination of cash flow and high rent and wages meant the company closed it’s doors after four years.

Terry then turned to his interest in art and fashion. Always having an eye for the aesthetic Terry opened his own clothes shop in the trendy university area of the city. Called “Retro” the shop was soon a leader in fashion for the clothes conscious of Belfast.
Terry’s was the first shop to stock Red or Dead shoes and he had a regular Saturday DJ playing in the tiny outlet. He sold hand painted jeans and one off shirts and jackets that he imported from all over the world.

A few years later and Terry needed a new direction, the shop was not fulfilling the creative side of Terry and he made the move to Dublin in 1989. Bradley stayed with what he knew however and initially started modelling clothes for friends to make ends meet. During this whole time however Terry was busy painting and drawing in his spare time. He still found it was how he relaxed and how he escaped from the pressures of his everyday life. A chance conversation with John Reynolds, the owner of the famous PoD club in Dublin, lead to Bradley’s first solo art exhibition. The night was a huge success and Terry finally started to make some money from the one thing that had stayed with him all his life. During the following years Terry has gradually become more comfortable with the title of “artist” and his work has gone from strength to strength. He now exhibits in Dublin, Belfast, London and Spain and is planning his first solo exhibition for the USA later this year. His natural aversion to the establishment has made it difficult for him to fit into a typical art gallery mould and he still likes to exhibit in the bars and clubs that he feels most at home in. He sells his work all around the world and his art has been used by Nokia for the cover of a limited edition mobile phone.

Bradley has now reached a place in his life that he is comfortable with. He is able to paint full time and explore the voyeuristic side of his nature that he first discovered as a child observing the dangerous world around him His work mostly centres on strong women and ex models in Dublin and more recently Paris. His latest work is inspired by the era of the Belle Époque in France and the contrasts and similarities with the Burlesque dancers of New York.

Sea Front View V - Ben Payne

ORIGINAL Oil on Canvas.

£1275.00

Image Size: 24" x 36"
Framed Size: 31" x 32"

This original oil on canvas by Ben Payne, comes professionally double framed with a thick brushed alluminiume frame and includes the publishers Certificate of Authenticity.
The picture will be shipped using a secure signed for next day courier service.

Ben Payne has built a reputation for creating artwork which is fresh, escapist and above all, uplifting. Born in Surrey in 1975, he began drawing portraits and painting as a hobby; by the age of 16 he was selling his work, and he has now developed into a major British talent. Although he is almost completely self-taught Ben is able to respond to challenges and create artwork that is both technically accomplished and highly accessible.

Ben's degree from Southampton University is a world apart from his artistic life, yet the influence of his academic and professional background can be observed in his art. After graduating in Psychology he became an independent therapist and pursued a career in the field of Autism, working with young children, helping them to overcome their difficulties in communicating with the outside world. Whilst pursuing this career he continued painting in his spare time, teaching himself and extending his range into oils.

Ben's high-impact land, sky and seascapes are inspired by the landscapes and coastlines around the world. He owes an artistic debt to a range of artists, in particular Turner and Whistler. Their influence can be seen in the way he captures the appearance of clouds with such delicacy, while employing a vivid and dramatic palette - a characteristic which lends his work an ethereal quality.

Ben believes that working with children has taught him to value simplicity and to communicate in a very direct and accessible language. His powerful paintings do display a certain innocence which somehow sets them part from the work of his contemporaries. While his subjects are realistic they often have dreamlike overtones, rendering them an intriguing combination of enchantment and sophistication.
